The Pembrokeshire based Queen's Dragoon Guards Cadets have won this year's Preseli March Competition.
They beat off a strong challenge in this West Wales Competition by one point.
The win is particularly significant for it is the last competition, Col. Dai Davies TD DL, of Withybush, the Competition Founder, will preside over as Honorary Colonel of Dyfed Army Cadet Force.
As a result of the extreme weather this year's competition got under way with a 5km march at 5.30 in the morning. Cadets also had to show their knowledge in six key ACF Syllabus areas: Navigation, Observation, Shooting, Adventure Training, Command and Control; as well as turn out.
On the previous evening, the Officers Mess dined out Col. Davies and presented him with a painting of the Preseli Mountains. He in turn presented the Mess with a miniature 'Scimitar'.
