Sir,
Please, please, for the sake of residents, visitors and the perpetrators themselves, don't let Pembrokeshire succumb to the tide of yobbish behaviour, filth, litter, graffiti, vandalism, drunkenness, drug abuse and even stabbings and killings that afflict so many other places.
Where I live just outside the London boundary we have been overwhelmed with it. I am sure that many people who live here have absolutely no idea of the magnitude of it. So-called night clubs account for a lot of the problems, but so does resigned tolerance from authorities and the public. It is truly demoralising and almost impossible to turn back the clock.
Belatedly, lower tolerance policing, town wardens, council litter and graffiti purges and 'ASBO' orders and 'Shop a Yob' campaigns have offered a glimmer of hope, but it is an uphill battle. Be warned.
Mrs. C. Lee,
170 Wilmot Road,
Dartford,
Kent.
