For their September meeting, Aviation Group members paid a return visit to the Carew Cheriton Control Tower where they were given the usual very warm welcome.

They toured the control tower and surrounding area, including the recently completed air raid shelter, and viewed work on a new project - the reconstructed signal square. They enjoyed an excellent talk by control tower committee members on the history of the wartime airfield, followed by refreshments.

Thanks to the control tower team for a very interesting evening were proposed by chairman Geraint Pynn.

After the visit, a wrist watch was discovered in the air raid shelter and it may belong to a group member.

Next group meeting is on Tuesday, October 14, 7.30 pm at Sunderland House, The Royal Dockyard, Pembroke Dock (next to the ferry terminal car park).

Group member Ron Boreham will be recalling his five years as a Special Operator on No 51 Squadron, flying in the RAF's reconnaissance version of the Comet during the Cold War. Guests are most welcome to attend.
