The July meeting was the group's biannual visit to Carew where they were royally entertained. First stop was the immaculate Commonwealth War Graves section of Carew Church where Deric Brock gave a brief biography of those buried there. Then on to the unique Water Tower lovingly refurbished over the years by a dedicated band of enthusiasts. Since the group's last visit, concrete paths have been laid, the air raid shelter is being converted into a visual aids room which will be a great asset to the large numbers of school parties currently coming. The Anson is fine under wraps; the engines are being rebuilt by Rolls Royce apprentices. Grant aid has been applied for to construct a hangar to house this venerable machine. The site is open each Sunday during July, August and September and at other times by arrangement. Members are reminded that the July meeting is at Dale airfield - meet at Mullock Bridge at 6.30 pm.
