n May, members met in the Prestige Engineering hanger at Haverfordwest Airport as guests of proprietor Geoff Martlew, who spoke about his aviation experiences and gave an interesting tour of the aircraft currently undergoing maintenance or restoration in the hanger.
June saw members back at the airport clubhouse to meet Sandy Sandison from Bournemouth, who trained as a pilot in Canada and the USA before becoming a flying instructor. On returning to the UK, he was trained as a bomber pilot and flew 30 missions over Germany in Lancasters. He described these times as exciting, interesting and often sad.
After the war he joined BOAC, flying Yorks, Hermes, Stratocruisers, DC7C's and 707's until retirement.
