At the beginning of March, 18 Pembrokeshire Short Mat bowlers joined others from around the UK at Bodelwyddan Castle for five days of competition and fun. Around 120 bowlers took part in the singles, pairs and triples competitions. Games started on the 14 mats on the Monday afternoon and finished with the finals on the Friday morning. Pembrokeshire came through the knockout stages with flying colours to eventually reach what turned out to be all-Pembrokeshire finals, with the exception of Howard Leese from the Midlands who supported our own Aubrey Streeter admirably in the pairs. The results were as follows: Singles: winner - Jeanette Richards (Letterston); runner-up - Lance Windsor (Narberth). Pairs: winners - Aubrey Streeter (East Williamston) and Howard Leese (Marston Green, Solihull); runners-up - John James and Hazel Wadey (East Williamston). Triples: winners - Maureen Lavis (Phoenix), Hazel Wadey (East Williamston) and Hywel Lavis (Phoenix); runners-up - Jean John, Ken Bellamy and Neville Ruff (East Williamston).
