Year 10 students from Greenhill School, Tenby, Pembroke School and Milford Haven School have battled it out in the Choice @ PRP Schools Cook Off grand final 2008. Emma Grimbaldeston and Natalie Johnson from Greenhill School, Emma Thomas and Lisa Winwood from Pembroke School and Laura Davies and Alisha Brown from Milford Haven School cooked and presented a two-course meal under the watchful eyes of Jamie Bessant (executive chef of the Tudor Lodge Restaurant, Jameston), Charles Stevens (director of the PRP Group) and Chris Osborne (Fourcroft Hotel, Tenby). The students had already won the heats in their schools competing against up to 48 other students judged by Jamie Bessant, and Kath Rowe, Kath Morgan and Gareth Mills, of Pembrokeshire Local Educational Authority. In the final held at the Tudor Lodge Restaurant, the students had only 90 minutes to prepare, cook and present their two-course meal where dishes included a leek and potato soup, oven-baked mushrooms stuffed with leek, spinach, onion and stilton wrapped in parma ham; and chicken in wholemeal breadcrumbs stuffed with mozzarella, fresh basil and tomato served on a bed of roasted fresh vegetables. The winning meal was cooked by Laura Davies and Alisha Brown from Milford Haven School. Judge Jamie Bessant said: "The students should be very proud of themselves. All of the dishes served were of the highest quality and I would happily serve them on my a la carte menu." Rhydian Batchelor, choices co-ordinator of the PRP Group, added: "The day was a complete success which would not have been possible without the help and support of staff and students from Greenhill, Pembroke and Milford Haven Schools, the staff of the Tudor Lodge Restaurant, Jameston, Chris Osborne, of the Fourcroft Hotel, Tenby, Charles Stevens, director of the PRP Group Ltd, Wisebuys, Andrew Rees, Sylvia and PDI. "We look forward to everyone's support next year when the competition will be open to all secondary schools throughout Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion."
