Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure and Get Stuffed Pizza Ltd) played host to the Balfour Club from Haverfordwest on Monday in their latest league match and were 3-2 losers.
The first frame saw Dickie Parcell play Terry McBride. Dickie started the stronger, but back came Terry to force the issue with a 28 break, leavingthe Saundersfoot player with an uphill task.
However Dickie fought back with a 12 break of his own to close the gap. By the time the frame got to the colours, however, Dickie was 28 behind, and although he continued to battle valiantly, it was not to be.
The second frame saw Glyn Davies play Peter Smiddy. Glyn again started well, opening up a good early lead. He continued to play well throughout (for a change) and closed the frame on the pink.
The third frame saw captain Mark Cleevely play Paul Harries. Unusually, Mark started very slowly, enabling Paul to get the better of him and forge a good lead midway through. As the frame got to the colours, Mark was still 19 points adrift and, although he potted some wonderful colours, it was to no avail.
The fourth frame saw Steve Cook play Alan Griffiths. Steve started the better, opening up a small lead. He then kicked on, extending his advantage and eventually taking the frame comfortably (which included a magnificent 43 break).
The last frame saw Darren Morgan play Ray Hoare. After exchanging good early breaks, it was Ray who began to pull away mid-frame and he eventually went on to secure victory.
