Tenby County Club (sponsored by LG Leisure) played their latest Premier League match away to the Waterloo Club in Hakin, on Monday evening, and were 4-1 winners. The first frame saw in-form player Steve Cook take on S. Hartley. Steve's opponent started the strongest, opening up a 10-point lead early on, only for the Tenby player to hit back with a 25 break of his own to take control of the frame. He then continued to pile on the points to win comfortably. The second frame saw Glyn Davies take on G. Hughes. Glyn started well, with some excellent safety, and as the game went on, for the first time, he had some luck (lots of fluky snookers). His opponent was potting some good balls and put him under a lot of pressure, but Glyn absorbed this to take the game on the pink. Glyn must have had all his season's luck in one go in this frame and maybe his overall luck has changed. The third frame saw Martin Durham take on M. Hartley. He started slowly, missing an easy blue to let his opponent in for a 10-point lead. Indeed, the game was slowly running away from Martin, and he needed to respond - and soon - but the position of the balls (70 per cent on the cushion) didn't help his cause. Martin was then unlucky to go in-off twice to raise his opponent's lead to 21 points. Nevertheless, he battled on to the colours, but despite a valiant effort, it was to no avail. The fourth frame saw Darren Morgan take on C. Hughes. Darren has been in reasonably good form lately. And this night seemed to be no different as he potted some superb balls. Full of confidence, a break of 22 saw Darren open up a lead of 33 points, but his opponent was no mug, potting some good balls as well, and a break of 14 closed the gap to 18 in Darren's favour. A couple of fouls by his opponent saw him again open up a lead of 23 coming to the green ball. His opponent then came strong, but a foul on the black handed Darren the win. The last frame saw Mark Cleevely take on A. Slade. Mark, who had a bad first half of the season, but is now coming good, started strongly and opened up a small lead early on. However, his opponent is a solid player and re-took the lead, before Mark got into his stride, only for his opponent to again come back at him and draw level. This game was proving a close affair, but Mark potted a couple of fantastic balls to edge the lead again, but which way this frame would go was still anyone's guess! As they got to the blue, it was again all square, but Mark then took the blue and pink to win a nail- biter.
