A presentation evening of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society Finds of the Year Awards was held recently. The chairman welcomed Mr. Alan Carrington, the local branch chairman of the British Heart Foundation, and presented a cheque to him for £250, which members had raised throughout the year. Mr. Carrington thanked members for their generosity and gave a summary of the foundation's work. Finds of the Month competition winners were: coins pre-1649 (Jean III long-cross penny 1312-55) - Jack Tree; coins 1649 onwards (George III half- penny token, 1792) - John Lee; ancient artefacts (medieval bird brooch) - Patrick James; modern finds (Victorian bronze ring) - Adrian Young; club search (George III silver love token, 1760-1820) - Linda Lee. A total of 38 members then enjoyed a very pleasant meal which was followed by a free raffle, and presentation of the Find of the Year awards.
