At the October meeting of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society, the chairman welcomed Polly Groom, from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks Authority, who gave members a very interesting illustrated talk on the diversity of archaeological sites in Pembrokeshire.

Finds of the Month competition winners were: Coins pre-1649 (13/14C silver half-groat) - Tom Williams; Coins 1649 onwards (George III Irish Bank token) - Frank Walters; Ancient artefacts (coin weight 1760-1770) - Josie Thomas; Modern Finds (19C Cresselly button) - Frank Walters; Club Search (Viking harness mount) - Paul Duffield.

The club has recently held a charity detecting rally in aid of the British Heart Foundation on land kindly made available by Mr. and Mrs, W. Reed from Upper Scolton. The event was well supported and a great success raising over £250.

The next meeting will be the Find of the Year competition on Thursday, November 1, at 7.30 pm, at The Cricket Club, Dale Road, Haverfordwest. The judge will be Mark Lodwick, finds liaison officer from the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
