TODAY, September 3 is Merchant Navy Day, and the Port of Milford Haven has proudly raised the Red Ensign to mark honour the men and women who serve at sea.

“From those who demonstrated extraordinary courage during wartime to the seafarers who keep global trade moving today, their contribution remains as important as ever,” said a spokesperson for the UK's leading energy port.

“At the Port of Milford Haven, we are proud to recognise the dedication, professionalism and resilience of seafarers around the world.”

Pembrokeshire County Council also hoisted the Red Ensign outside County Hall, Haverfordwest to raise awareness of the UK’s ongoing dependence on Merchant Navy seafarers.
