Pembrokeshire is first on the grid when it comes to electric vehicle (EV) charging devices.
A Department of Transport (DoT) report shows that Pembrokeshire not only has the most publically available charge-points but also the most charge--points per head of population than any other local authority in Wales
It is also in the top 20 per cent of local authorities throughout the UK.
According to the DoT report, there are 15,116 public EV charging devices in the UK. Of these, 2,495 were rapid devices.
Pembrokeshire has 68 EV charge-points and two rapid charge-points giving it 54 charging devices per 100,000 population.
Charge-points are provided by Pembrokeshire County Council at its Pay and Display car parks.
“This is good news for Pembrokeshire” said Clr. Phil Baker, the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Licensing and Major Events.
“And it’s set to get even better. By March 2020 the Council will have added two more rapid devises and 12 fast charge-points (24 sockets) as part of our Phase 2 roll out.
Clr. Baker added: “We will also be bidding for a Phase 3 roll out to expand the network even further in 2021.”
He said the scheme also contributed to meeting the objectives set out in the Council’s Programme of Administration.
