Members of The Pembrokeshire Guide Dogs fundraising group (pictured) are delighted that the branch has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

“At a time when funds for community groups and charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Pembrokeshire,” said Mrs. Eva Rich, local group co-ordinator of Pembrokeshire Guide Dogs.

“We are raising funds to help provide Guide Dogs for visually impaired people to give them mobility, independence and safety.

“At present there are 18 guide dog owners in Pembrokeshire with 4 awaiting new dogs.

“Each guide dog costs approximately £50,000 to train and to keep over its lifetime and our local fundraising group contributes to this cause.

“We also give help to local owners and their dogs when necessary,” she continued.

To help the group raise vital funds, there will be a reliance on Co-op members, as when a member buys selected branded products and services, the Co-op will give a helping hand to local causes such as The Pembrokeshire Guide Dogs fundraising group.

Co-op members can select the group as their local cause by visiting: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/49913

“We really hope that people will visit the Co-op website or download the Co-op app and select us as their local cause,” added Eva.
