Riders from all over Pembrokeshire and beyond are getting ready to take part in the 11th annual British Heart Foundation (BHF) Pembrokeshire Bike Ride on Sunday, September 19. The ride will start at 9 am from Haverfordwest Rugby Club and riders will head towards Newgale, before going through Nolton Haven, Broad Haven and Tier's Cross, before turning back to the rugby club at Trooper's Inn. The total distance is 26.4 miles. Event organiser, Andrew Jones, said: "The Pembrokeshire Bike Ride is traditionally our last cycle ride of the summer in South Wales and riders have always enjoyed the wonderful scenery of the area. "Pembrokeshire is certainly not flat but this year's route has placed the ups and downs at the front of the route. By the time that riders leave Broad Haven the remainder of the route is fairly flat. "Our summer started with the Junior Bike Ride held at the County Showground and many riders from the area have ridden in our other rides in Newport and around the Gower peninsula. "Similarly, people from other areas have also entered with riders coming from as far as Bristol." Riders can register in person at Mike's Bikes, Enterprise Cycles and Bierspool Cycles,by post, in person on the day or for the first time on-line at bhf.org.uk Andrew Jones, added: "Our on-line registration has proved very popular this summer with many riders not having the time to go out and register in person during their lunch hour or at the weekend. "Our riders then have the opportunity to have an on-line sponsor form so that they can e-mail all their friends and ask them for their support. "As in past years, the ride would not be possible without the support of many organisations, the majority of whom have been involved since the ride began. "These organisations include St. John, RAYNET (amateur radio), Dyfed Army Cadets and the Rotary Clubs of Haverfordwest and Milford Haven."
