On Saturday, the Christmas exhibition by the Pembrokeshire Craftsmen’s Circle was officially opened at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.
The exhibition was formally opened by Mark Hinchcliffe. Mike Brew, trustee at the museum, introduced Mark.
Mark is a Pembrokeshire-based artist with a background in graphic design and illustration. He has over 20 years teaching experience working with schools, running adult education classes, ‘en plein air’ painting days in Tenby and is currently developing online teaching courses.
Mark highlighted the level of dedication in the work on display in the gallery.
“These are beautifully presented pieces of work, in so many medium of craft. You cannot but help admire the quality of the exhibition. Craft is such an important aspect of art and design and needs to be recognised more widely in the educational system.”
The exhibition features work from eight members of the Craftsmen’s Circle: Susan Bain (wire sculptor); Annette Beattie (textile artist); Annie Coombs (silver jeweller); Sheila Hickey (ceramicist); Jo and Leigh Rihan (wood turner); Riitta Sinkkonen Davies (hand weaver) and Roy Thedvall (artist blacksmith).
The exhibition runs until Friday, December 16.
