Ask the expert - Menswear: Dress for the Occasions has been open now for over five years, relocating in the last 18 months to Swan Square in Haverfordwest.
“Our location now is a bigger and brighter location with good parking to the rear of our premises,” says owner Geraint Laugharne.
“I still carry the same stock levels as I did when I was in Hylton John.”
Trends for 2016, Geraint says, are tweed waistcoats with classic ties making a strong appearance again. Also classic lounge jackets are very popular, but slim fit is what is required. Colours have also gone more classic, with charcoal grey still as popular in 2016 as 2015.
He continued: “Added to the range this year is a royal blue colour suit in lounge jacket length and tailcoats.
“The classic black and navy tails we are running a special offer for the whole of 2016 at just £70 for a complete wedding outfit.”
Biggest fashion item change for men this year is the footwear.
Says Geraint: “Brogues are back for 2016 in two colours, light tan and black.”
And he advises: “We still recommend that the men have two fittings for their attire. Fitting one about six to four months before and the second fitting the week before when the suits are picked up.
“I always advise brides to pick the bridesmaids colours first, so the men have a guide on what colour scheme to have as neckwear.”
So what’s popular?
“Navy blue, light pink, and cream and biscuit colours are strong this year as they go very well with the tweed theme,” adds Geraint.
And what’s the best thing about running his own men’s outfitters?
“The best thing about my job is the one-to-one service which I give,” said Geraint. “I hope every customer leaves my shop happy with their choice and the fitting they have had. After 26 years of measuring, I feel I have treated all customers the same. And also most important, I treat every wedding as if it is the only wedding I am doing. So I make your day special. Please feel free to visit us at Swan Square in Haverfordwest. We are open Tuesday to Saturday 9.30 am - 5 pm.”
