A message from Simon Hart, MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire: I am greatly looking forward to this year’s Pembrokeshire County Show. My visits for the past 30 years have always been a mix of pleasure and business and this year will no doubt be the same.
It’s always a wonderful chance to catch up with old friends, colleagues and the farming community.
It does pass in a bit of a blur of meetings, briefings and interviews, but it’s a brilliant opportunity to squeeze a month’s worth of work into three days.
I have a feeling that the results of the EU Referendum will be a strong talking point, as will the failure of the Welsh Government to tackle the Bovine TB crisis in Wales.
The two local Conservative Associations have, as ever, joined forces to take a stand and we’ll be at our usual spot on Band Avenue (by the entrance of the Show Pavilion and Tea Room).
Do pop by to talk to any of our supporters who’ll be around at all times - whether to discuss the vaccination of badgers, the referendum result or the price of milk.
I’ll also be on the stand as much as possible and if anyone has a particular problem they wish to talk to me about then I’m holding a surgery from 3 pm Tuesday 16th - please call 01994 242002 to make an appointment.
Big Pete and the Grim Reaper: Running with three fantastic car crushing shows per day -Big Pete and the Grim Reaper are not to be missed. The monster trucks weigh in at 7.5 tonnes and are built for one reason only - mass destruction! Guaranteed to be a big favourite with spectators, the action packed performance by Big Pete and the Grim Reaper comes with an amusing and entertaining commentary by the driver throughout the display.
At 7.5 tonnes, standing 15-feet (4.6 metres) high, 13-feet (4 metres) wide and 18-feet (5.5 metres) long, Big Pete is one of Europe’s largest Monster Trucks with a full size American truck body. At the County Show, Big Pete is partnered with the Grim Reaper a 1999 V8 Chevrolet pick-up replica - weight 10,200 lbs (4.5 tonnes), height 12-feet, width 12-feet and length 18-feet.
This is a chance to watch two real Monster Trucks at work jumping over cars and crushing cars at this year’s County Show. Jumping 15 feet in the air is an impressive sight for any event coupled with crushing anything its path and working together pulling cars apart makes it awesome!
If that’s not enough to get you excited, Big Pete and the Grim Reaper Monster Truck Show are the only team in Europe who has a female monster truck driver
Make sure you visit the Events Arena especially created to fully display this spectacular show.
