A message from Angela Burns AM: One of the great pleasures of being an Assembly Member are the many and varied agricultural shows that I get to attend. Of course, the most prestigious of which is the Pembrokeshire County Show which so ably represents the farming industry in West Wales. This year’s show will the be 10th since I was elected, but I imagine the industry will be at it most nervous as to what the future holds.
The EU referendum result has posed many questions, especially for the agricultural industry, but as a local representative I am determined to ensure that farmers voices are heard when it comes to getting the best deal in the post European Union future.
The agricultural community is resilient, they have been through tough times before and have come out the other side stronger. It is important that this fighting spirit is evident again and I will continue to do my best to reflect your views when speaking to colleagues in Westminster, or speaking up for Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire in Cardiff Bay.
The efforts that go into making the show run smoothly are amazing and I want to pay tribute to all those who have been working since last summer to ensure the success of this year’s event.
I look forward to seeing familiar faces, making new friends and welcoming visitors from around Britain to the 2016 show. It is a great show piece for the Welsh agricultural sector and we are very lucky to host it here in Pembrokeshire.
