A warm welcome will be available to all visitors at this year's County Show.

Another quality programme of events and displays has been put together for your enjoyment, including the cattle section on August 16 and 17 and the sheep exhibitors on the August 18.

The equestrian events are always well-supported, as well as the sheep, pigs and goats.

This year, adding to the Countryside Conservation area are Water Buffalo, supplied by The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. 'Star' and her baby are part of the herd used for grazing the Teifi Marshes nature reserve in Cilgerran, Cardigan.

The Conservation area will be supported by The National Parks, FWAG, The Wildlife Trust, The Forestry Commission, The RSPB, The CCW and The Cilrehdyn Woodland Centre, just to mention a few. A great effort has been put into renewing the pole climber's poles. The old poles had outlived their use and new ones were required.

The poles are required to be 14-inches across at 100-feet, and Richard Curtis, of The Forestry Commission, has acquired poles from a forest in Llandeilo, and began the epic journey of felling the trees, organising the transport plan through The Welsh Office, liaising with the police to transport them, and stripping the bark at Haverfordwest, and with contractors Mason Bros., erecting the poles. Grateful thanks goes to Richard Curtis, just one example of how the organisers rely on others to freely assist in the organisation of the show.

The County Show has applied to The Welsh Rugby Union for The Grand Slam Team to visit the show this year and they are pencilled in for a visit so the organisers are hoping for a positive response in the next few weeks. This year's main attraction is The Kangaroo Kid who is recognised in The Guinness Book of Records as achieving the longest stationary and moving jumps in the year 2000. His real name is Mathew Coulter and he is six-foot four-inches tall.

The Food Hall has traditionally been situated in The Pavilion Centre, attached last year, by two other marquees. This year, the organisers are citing the hall in a 160-foot long marquee with washing facilities on the opposite side of The Pavilion on the corner of Band and Main Avenue.

This hopefully will be an impressive food hall supported by Kate Morgan, the food development officer for Pembrokeshire County Council. Entertainment and Show information will be supplied by Pembrokeshire Radio, our partners in informing the public on show information. Radio Wales and S4C are situated at the bottom of Bank Avenue at Food Court B/C respectively and will deliver their daily programmes from there which will feature County Show issues.

The sponsors must not be left without a mention, they not only support the show financially, but also ensure that the special equipment and help required is offered to ensure that the staging of the show meets the standard required.

The sponsors 'Thank You Evening' will be held on the Wednesday evening of the show (August 17) at 6.30 pm.

The organisers would like to take this opportunity to thank their staff who have worked enjoyably and arduously to stage this agricultural show which is a credit not only to Pembrokeshire, but to Wales.

They would also like to thank the stewards and exhibitors whom they hope will be back next year to expand the show into another phase.

Finally, to all the visitors to Pembrokeshire you will find lots to see and enjoy at the County Show from horticulture and craft, poultry and cage birds, the various animals, to over 600 trade stands, some connected to agriculture and some offering the highest quality in craftsmanship.
