The Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum have just launched a series of meetings gathering information on the state of our county's coast - and they want to hear your views.
The Forum are holding ten 'topic groups' with a range of organisations and individuals including experts in fisheries, energy and cultural heritage. These meetings are crucial for the Forum to find out how people think the coast can be managed in a sustainable way.
Forum officer Tonia Forsyth said: "The Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum is definitely a two-way process, and getting people to tell us how they think the coast can be looked after ensures everyone's view is taken into account. We need a thorough consultation period, so people who live or work on the coast take an active role in it's future. That's what these meetings are all about."
The information gathered over the next few weeks will be used in a 'State of/Issues' report to be published in the autumn. This will then feed into the Forum's overall strategy for the coast, due to be completed at the end of 2004.
The 10 meetings are: Tourism, Recreation and Access (May 15); Marine Pollution and Water Quality (May 19); Nature Conservation and Environment(May 21); Landscape and Cultural Heritage (May 23); Energy (June 2) ; Fisheries and Aquaculture(June 4); Coastal Protection and Flood Defence (June 6); Marine Industry, Business and Commerce (June 9) ; Ports, Shipping and Transport (June 12); Agriculture and Rural Land Use (June 16).
