Pembrokeshire based charity ‘Megan’s Starr Foundation’ has picked up a special accolade at the Child of Wales Awards 2025 - which celebrates inspirational achievements of remarkable young people across Wales.
Hosted by BBC Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones, the Child of Wales Awards 2025 returned for the fourth time to Swansea Arena on Friday, September 12, and welcomed the likes of actress Melanie Walters who played Gwen in Gavin and Stacey, as well as rugby legends Sir Gareth Edwards and Gareth Thomas.
The awards, which this year raises vital funds for charities SNAP Specialist Play and Sir Gareth Edwards’ Cancer Charity, also recognise the children who help others through championing causes in their communities, protecting the environment, caring and fundraising.
Friends and family of the award-winning children, saw categories such as Child of Courage, Courageous Family, Young Fundraiser and Bravery being awarded on the evening.
‘Outstanding Charity’ went to Megan’s Starr, based in Milford Haven.
Megan’s Starr Foundation was born from unimaginable loss but shaped by extraordinary love and courage.

Megan tragically took her own life in 2017, after a silent battle with cyber-bullying.
After losing 14-year-old Megan to suicide, her family made a promise: no other child would feel alone like she did, and no other family would be left broken without answers.
Megan tragically took her own life after a silent battle with cyber-bullying. From that promise came Megan’s Starr – a grassroots movement that has become a lifeline for young people in crisis.
Entirely community led and built without statutory funding, the foundation has delivered over 2,000 hours of free counselling, 5,000 hot meals, and more than 20,000 volunteer hours.
It has helped over 200 families stay together, supported ALN and NEET young people with mentoring and skills, and created safe spaces like their community café, thrift store, and support centre.
What sets Megan’s Starr apart is their belief in every young person who has been excluded or misunderstood. Lived experience is their heartbeat. Compassion is their model.
They don’t just offer support – they create belonging. In every life they touch, Megan’s light continues to shine.
Covering all areas of Wales, the awards shines a light on a brave group of children and young people who face hardships and challenges every day, yet never give up, inspiring those around them in the process.

Child of Wales Awards founder and CEO Blanche Sainsbury said: “As always, this year’s Child of Wales Awards has been incredible. It was a truly unforgettable evening – a powerful celebration of courage, resilience, and hope.
“None of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of our incredible sponsors, friends, and supporters, whose generosity and belief in our vision continue to inspire us.
“Together, we’ve created something special - a community that comes together to honour Wales' young heroes and give their families a night they will never forget. It’s a testament to the strength and compassion of our nation, and I am so proud to be part of it.”
