The old Brynmyrnach Chapel, in Hermon Village in Pembrokeshire, is gearing up for a new lease of life as a Community Heritage Centre and first-floor flat.

A public meeting is planned for Thursday, October 23 at 6.30pm at Hermon Hall to inform people about buying a community share for £30 each.

The purchase of the old Brynmyrnach chapel at Hermon took place in April 2025, and the community group is now ready to move ahead with a community share offer in a similar manner to other projects in the area where shops, pubs, land and chapels have been bought by other communities in West Wales.

Local supporter of the project Cris Tomos noted: "It is great that the Victorian building has been bought by the initial supporters of 18 community lenders to secure the freehold of the building. We are now looking for shareholders to buy a £30 share in the project."

"The idea is to take out the interior seating and gallery, but to leave the pulpit in situ, then a mezzanine first floor will allow the project to seek funding for a 3-bedroom flat for a local family to have affordable housing"

The name of the project in Hermon is CarTrefUn Ltd and is registered as a community housing trust with the FCA. The new organisation can issue community shares, and those who invest can have a 50% tax relief return on their investment.

Anyone interested in knowing more can come along to the open meeting and take up the £30 share option to become a part-owner in the new community Heritage and Housing initiative.
