When the sun shone down on Pembrokeshire on Sunday morning, despite the cost of motoring at an all-time high, over 500 vehicles and motorbikes from the early days of motoring right up to sporty and limited edition examples from the 21st century made their way from all over Wales and far beyond to the Pembrokeshire County Showground to take part on the Western Telegraph Pembrokeshire County Run 2013 to promote Pembrokeshire and also promote and help the British Heart Foundation.

Event founders and organisers, Jeff and Sian Edwards, of Milford Haven, stated that many of their fellow motoring enthusiasts and motoring clubs from all over the county and right across Wales linked up in lay-bys and motorway service stations to drive in convoys to the start line.

The guest list included the chairman of Rudbuxton Community Council, Mayor of Haverfordwest, chairman of the Pembrokeshire County Council, along with their ladies and the Pembrokeshire County Show's lady ambassador.

This year's event was dedicated to the centenary of Morris cars and all the Morris and MGs were grouped together and led by the many motorbikes taking part. They along with the former Cardiff City Police Morris Minor Panda car led the grand parade over the start line for a 92-mile motoring tour circumnavigating the county.

The run took in the beautiful and rugged North Pembrokeshire coastline, and after a brief stop at the official halfway stop, courtesy of the Dyfed Shire Horse Farm, the vehicles then made their way past the Preseli Hills and the rolling countryside of Pembrokeshire before the final stage of the run across the flat and beautiful terrain of South Pembrokeshire before crossing the Cleddau Bridge with its magnificent views of the Milford Haven waterway and then heading for the finish line back at the Pembrokeshire County Showground.

Jeff and Sian founded this event back in 1998 as an event to celebrate the new millennium in 2000 and for the event to last for just three years and attract no more than around 25 vehicles... with the event still going strong and now the biggest of its kind in Wales and one of the biggest in the UK ... the rest is history!

They are very grateful to everyone who took part, the wonderful spectators who always line the route, their sponsors, their small and dedicated team and their marshals who did a tremendous job of keeping the vehicles moving, with a special thank you to the Western Telegraph, Dyfed Shire Horse Farm and the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society.
