Communities across Pembrokeshire had a special visit from the Easter bunny over the school holidays.

Kayleigh Kitts of Devon Drive in Pembroke first started lifting spirits in the locality last year when the lockdown was brought in, by delivering treats to kids whilst wearing different colourful character costumes.

She admitted that she never thought she’d be doing the same again 12 months on, but this time teamed up with local face make-up artist Tara Elizabeth Jenkins (who hit the headlines earlier this year with her transformation tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore) to cover the communities of Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Neyland, Johnston. Carew and Milford Haven on Easter Sunday, giving sweets out to young families.

“When i brought the idea of doing an Easter Bunny in our estate last year and carrying the idea out for the Spar Store in Narberth, both of which were a huge success, never did I think I’d be doing it again this year!” she said.

“But messages in my inbox started coming in asking if I’d be doing the Easter bunny again this year, so I decided that as it was all for the children, I’d whip out the costume again, get the sweets and chocolates ready and off I hopped!”

Social distancing was maintained when visiting household gardens etc, and Kayleigh even managed to drop in on one of the care homes in the area.

“It was so nice to be able to put a smile on so many children’s faces. The excitement on some faces made sure it was definitely worthwhile spending 5 hours in that bunny costume!

Also seeing elderly and vulnerable adults get a bit of fun out it, when I paid a visit to Hollyland Lodge in Pembroke truly melted my heart!

“I must have gone around 70-80 people with goodies, and the amount of families I went to who wanted to donate something in aid of a charity was unbelievable.

“However this was all done for free to ensure some fun was brought to the children still going through some lockdown measures on special occasions,” she added.
