It was resolved council would support the proposals.

Sponsorship: A letter applying for sponsorship towards attendance at the British Freestyle Dancing Championship at Blackpool in September was considered. It was resolved that the applicant would be informed that unfortunately, the council was unable to provide financial assistance to individuals under Section 137 of The Local Government Act.

Mr. Ian Jones, clerk to Pembroke Dock Town Council: Clr. Brinn requested, by letter, that council gave consideration to recognising Mr. Ian Jones who was leaving the area to take up a similar post at Ferndown, Dorset. Mr. Jones had provided invaluable support to Pembroke Town Council and also his work in promoting the twinning arrangements with Pembroke (Malta) and Bergen. It was resolved that a council plaque to be presented to Mr. Jones together with a letter of appreciation.

Mayoral chain: The clerk informed council that the Mayoral Chain required a number of repairs and he had taken the chain to a local jeweller to obtain an estimate of the cost. As the chain had significant historical and monetary involvement, he queried whether council should consider purchasing an insignia for use at informal events. It was resolved that estimates be considered by council prior to work being undertaken. The suggestion regarding the purchase of an insignia was not proceeded with at this time.

Use of Pembroke Town Hall: Clr. Asman expressed the view that Pembroke Town Hall was under used and that greater use could be made of the building, especially the disused Court Room to stage exhibitions etc. The clerk pointed out that the building was used by various organisations on a regular basis for various events generating substantial income. During the discussion that ensued, council agreed that this was a matter that should be reviewed; however, it was imperative that the unique character of the building is retained.
