At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Pembroke, president Ken Chung was pleased to present Simon Moffett, treasurer of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, with a cheque for £3,000. This was a share of the profit made at the highly successful Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra concert organised by the club in association with Folly Farm on March 24. The financial success of the concert was largely due to the generous sponsorship the club received from local firms.

In accepting the cheque, Mr. Moffett explained that the money raised would be put to good use and thanked the Rotary Club for their wonderful piece of fundraising.

The main thrust of PFPC is to continue the work of raising awareness of the men and women in the community - ‘Wellness talks’. Recent fundraising has allowed development of the portal for doctors so that they can get up to date with developments with male urology.

Talks for any group over 10 people can be arranged through contacting the charity. The package takes about two hours and does qualify for Continuing Professional Development points.

Apart from this, the charity is trying to encourage trainee doctors to consider urology as a speciality through providing travel grants to enable the trainee to travel abroad to learn more.

The charity also continues to seek ways to encourage the adoption of new treatments across Wales.
