Over the recent lockdown, Pembroke Rotary Club have been collecting old and unwanted computers, which are then refurbished and distributed to local schools.
The Rotary Club would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Gerald Bowen, of the ‘Tech Yard’ in Johnston, who has refurbished the machines at a minimal cost, making the project affordable.
In all, 20 laptops and 14 all-in-one machines have been refurbished and fitted with SSD cards which make the machines work faster.
Thanks also go to individuals and businesses who have donated the machines and particularly to Rotarian Chris McLaren who was able to acquire several machines from local firms in Carmarthen.
To date, laptops have been given to Ysgol Harri Tudur and Monkton Priory CP School. Both schools were delighted with the gifted machines which will go to supporting their home learning schemes which commenced during lockdown.
Thanks also to Rotarian Vanessa Walker who co-ordinated the scheme on behalf of Pembroke Rotary Club.
