A charity in Pembrokeshire has been given a boost with a local resident winning a place on the Vodafone World of Difference programme.
Kylene Rafferty from Pembroke is among 500 people from across the UK who will work for a chosen charity, supported by the Vodafone Foundation.
Over 5,000 people registered interest for the programme which will see placements start in March. Kylene has chosen to spend four months working part time with Guide Dogs, who provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people and campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment.
Her role will be West Wales community fundraiser, which includes delivering a community engagement programme and culminates in a supporter event in the summer.
Kylene said: "Upon completion of my project, I would hope that the West Wales community would be better informed about the work of Guide Dogs and how their services benefit visually impaired people."
This is the third year that the Vodafone Foundation has delivered a UK World of Difference programme, giving 500 people the chance to make a difference. Last year, charities from all corners of the UK benefited and 79 per cent of those who took part have stayed connected to their charity, giving the UK's third sector much-needed support.
The Vodafone World of Difference programme, delivered by the Vodafone Foundation, is open to anyone over 18 in the UK and the Channel Islands who has the passion, drive and commitment to donate themselves to a charity. Taking part involved finding the right charity to suit their interests, skills and experience.
