At the meeting of Pembroke Probus Club which took place on Tuesday, January 8, the guest speaker was Wing Commander John Hancock, who came to speak about the Carningli Trust.

The Carnigli Trust is a charity running three care homes for 20 adults with learning difficulties in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire and employing 30 staff.

Chair of trustees, John Hancock explained how the Trust was being transformed to provide care in small units within communities. These new settings allow for independence and integration in a way which is safe and that meets latest and welcome improvements in care standards and expectations.

Probus members were told that the Trust is looking for additional trustees to join their board of trustees and that anyone interested in doing so would be welcome.

From the questions raised by members, it was clear that the talk had engaged their attention and much interest was shown in this vital work. It was clear that the need for these services in this area was a subject dear to the hearts of a number of those present.

A vote of thanks on behalf of the Pembroke Probus Club was given by Kenneth Homfray, also ex-RAF and having close ties to the 21C group in Pembroke.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact David Holt on 01646 681600.
