The Cleddau Bridge Hotel was the chosen venue for the recent inaugural meeting of Pembroke Ladies Probus Club.

The six members of the steering group had great success in encouraging friends to attend the first 'Interest Meeting'.

The 20 ladies, mainly retired, from business or other professions were welcomed by Sandra Thompson.

Members of the steering group explained the interesting history and constitution of Probus which is a friendship organisation run by the members for the members to stimulate thought, interest and participation.

Each lady present was encouraged to bring an additional new member to the next meeting on Wednesday, January 16, at 11 for 11.30 am, when the committee will be formally elected.

Meetings will be held monthly on the third Wednesday at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel.

A guest will be invited to speak each month, after which all can enjoy a private lunch in their meeting room.

Membership is £10 annually and there will be a members' raffle at each meeting for a £5 hotel luncheon gift voucher for that day.

Members had a very happy time and an excellent lunch at their first meeting. They now look forward to January 16 when their guest speaker will be Elaine Thomas, a former head dancer at the Moulin Rouge.
