Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild and supporters were most privileged to celebrate St.David’s Day in Pembroke Town Hall with a concert from Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir, in aid of the RNLI.
The concert began with the choir proceeding into the hall singing - ‘We’ll keep a welcome in the hillside’.
The choir’s Musical Director, Christine Lloyd, chose to present a varied programme of well known nautical and Welsh songs.
Christine has a great gift in encouraging audience participation too,
The choir, founded by Christine’s father, the late W.P.Lewis, is quite unique, and celebrates it’s 68th Anniversary this year.
Compere Phil Lloyd, the other half of this great partnership, was superb as always, with his very own entertaining style of introduction of choir members and their programme.
During the first half of the concert, well known choir flautist, Alyson Griffiths played a medley of three tunes, so ably and calmly, you really had to be there.
A supper of home made Cawl, leek and potato soup was served during the interval, with locally made, Long Meadow Bakery Swansea Bread, Welsh Cheese and Tan y Castell Welsh Cakes.
Phil Lloyd towards the end of the evening thanked the Chair, Daphne Bush and Pembroke Ladies Guild committee for their invitation and the great supper.
Finally, Phil presented choir member Dean Maiden with a certificate marking his 20 year membership of the choir.
Pembroke Guild wish to express huge gratitude, on behalf of the RNLI, to the choir and supporters attending our St.David’s Day celebration.
We should also like to thank the support of Pembroke Town Hall in the sale of tickets.
Our apologies lastly, to the many supporters unable to obtain tickets as we sold out prior to the event. We hope to see you all next year.
