Clr. Mrs. Pearl Llewellyn was 'sworn in' as the 630th Mayor of Pembroke at last Thursday's annual general meeting of Pembroke Town Council, taking over from the 2008/9 Mayor, Clr. Gareth Jones.
Clr. Llewellyn, who represents the Monkton ward on both Pembroke Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council, was born in Neyland and has lived in Monkton since 1973.
She is actively involved with a number of organisations, including Monkton Communities First and Monkton Voice Community Association, she is also a governor of Monkton Priory Community School and represents the county council on the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority,
During her acceptance speech, Clr. Llewellyn said that she was highly honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as Mayor of Pembroke for the second time and looked forward to promoting Pembroke as a place to live and visit.
She also touched upon the wide range of backgrounds of the current councillors and hoped that their wealth of experience would enable the council to meet the challenges that lie ahead.
Clr. Keith Nicholas, who represents St. Mary (South), is this year's Deputy Mayor.
