Six former pupils from Pembroke Dock Community School recently held a special reunion, having not seen each other for 50 years.
After Ann Thomas (nee Wilson) and her sister Lynda emigrated through assisted passage and settled in Victoria in Australia, with the rest of their family soon following, some years later her friend and school companion, Glenys Smith, managed to track down an address for Ann and the pair started writing regularly to each other.
Then a few weeks ago, after exchanging letters for 26 years, Ann told Glenys out of the blue that she would be heading back to Pembrokeshire for a few weeks, along with her sister Lynda (and her husband Paul) and brother-in-law Gerald.
"It was the first time we'd all been together for 50 years and only the second time that Ann had returned to the UK in that time, so it was a very special few days," said Glenys.
