Have you ever fancied a bungee jump? Did you know there is a chance to do a world-class bungee jump on your doorstep? On Saturday, August 19, the UK Bungee Club will be putting on one of only three chances to bungee off a bridge in the whole of the UK, in our very own Pembroke Dock.

Bungee HQ will be at Hobbs Point, where there will be a live video link to the Cleddau Bridge so that spectators can watch the expressions on their nearest and dearest faces as they have the experience of a lifetime.

The organisers say there are less than 10 places left for this year’s event, which need to be booked online at www.bungeeoffthebridge.wales as soon as possible before they sell out. They have already decided to take a year off to focus on other projects next year, so if you’ve thought about doing Bungee off the Bridge, but not quite yet taken the plunge yet - do it now, as it could be a while before you get another chance!

Pembroke Dock Bungee off the Bridge is organised by volunteers from Pembroke Dock Town Team, who commission the UK’s most popular bungee club to put on Wales’ only chance to bungee jump off a bridge, in the heart of our spectacular county. Pembrokeshire County Council kindly give permission to use the bridge and supervise all safety arrangements.

Jumpers are coming from far and wide to experience the thrill of a bridge bungee jump, including Manchester, Warrington and a large number from South Wales. Many are raising money for charity, and ones to watch will include Alex Kirk from Boots Opticians jumping as a pink flamingo to raise money for the National Literacy Trust, Paula Musselwhite and Allison Fletcher from Haverfordwest who are doing a bungee jump, a sky dive and a ride on Oakwood’s Vertigo in 24 hours to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance and Ward 10 Withybush, and David Herbert, a small holder from Caerphilly aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the most eggs intact after a bungee jump (could get messy!)

Pembroke Dock’s local elected politicians are also getting involved - County Councillor Josh Beynon will be bungee jumping to raise money for a second cold cot at Glangwili Hospital, and County Councillor Paul Dowson is donating a jump to Jay Harding who is jumping blind folded to raise money in memory of Bradley Lowery, the young football fan who recently died of children’s cancer.

In fact, the whole town of Pembroke Dock has pulled together to help make Bungee off the Bridge a great community event for a third year. Huge thanks go out to our main sponsors Gravells Kia Narberth, the Port of Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock Town Council, but as ever with Town Team events, a multitude of local businesses, big and small, are supporting the Bungee off the Bridge in a huge variety of ways.
