ON Saturday, July 2 a Classic and Vintage Car Show took place at the West Wales Maritime Heritage Society Boatyard in Front Street, Pembroke Dock.

Rain first thing in the morning threatened to put a dampener on the event, but when the sun came out the fantastic cars rolled in - and what a sight it was! There was even an old London taxi belonging to Peter Daley and his Grandson Finlay, which had just been restored.

Society Chairman Peter Kraus said: “It was brilliant to say the least. Well done, Finlay, you must be so proud of yourself. There were also Minis, Cadillacs and a vintage Triumph Roadster... they were truly amazing.

“The day also saw some very keen canoeists from Pembroke Paddlers, and one of our members who did a marvellous display.

“The Vagrants certainly did us proud with all their Shanty songs, the brilliant Lionel Nutting was DJ for the day and kept us entertained.”

There were activities for all ages including a boat pond for remote control boats. The Maritime Museum was open for everyone to see and enjoy and appreciate how much Maritime History there is in Pembroke Dock.

“The main thing was that over 200 people came through the gates and everyone enjoyed themselves,” added Mr Kraus. “We cannot wait to see them all again next year.

“A big thank you to our very own David Millard for the excellent barbecue and all the Members of the WWMHS for doing so much to make the whole event a brilliant one.”
