Congratulations must go to the Pembroke Dock Ladies team who won the County Ladies Championship for 2013. This was the eighth time that they have won the coveted county league shield, so they must be congratulated on a wonderful team effort, with every member of the team playing her part to bring the county shield back to Pembroke Dock Bowling Club.
So with Pembroke Dock Ladies combining with the Pembroke Dock Park Ladies, the ladies of PDBC challenged the men to an end of season match which took place on Saturday being the last playing day before the club closes for the winter season.
To help the ladies field a full strength team, several men (who are obviously into cross dressing) turned out in their full female attire (shaven legs as well) to a great reception from both teams. Many men members admired 'Rachel Hissey' who strutted up and down the green in her knee-length skirt, obviously delighted to get so much attention from the male bowlers.
A great afternoon was had by all, with the men running out winners by four rinks to two. After the game, the non-playing lady members of the club once again excelled themselves in the kitchen by making sure everyone was well fed, with the bar, well run by David Finn, ensuring that the last liquor was always available.
A well sung happy birthday raised the rafters for Jack Turley on reaching his 90th birthday - well done Jack, and may you continue enjoying your bowls.
So the season has come to a close, but the work continues, especially on the green by the unsung heroes of any club, who maintain the clubhouse and playing surface in tip-top condition throughout the winter months.
The annual general meeting of PDBC will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday, October 16, commencing at 7 pm.
