Division One

In the topsy turvy world of the Division One title race, things are hotting up and Cresselly have taken over the leadership from Neyland who lost at home to dark horses Saundersfoot.

Following Saturday's matches, Cresselly have a lead of 11 points over second placed Carew who are two points ahead of Neyland and Saundersfoot are just one point behind Neyland in fourth place.

Cresselly were bowled out for 186 at home to St. Ishmaels after frittering away a good start as the second wicket did not fall until the total was on 138.

This followed a solid third wickets stand of 108 between Adam Chandler with 59 and the highly promising Matthew Morgan who scored 44 opening the batting.

Tish bowled well to get back into the game, with left arm spinner Andrew Pawlett taking 4-17 and Andrew Palmer 4-30.

Robbie Thomas also bowled his cutters effectively to finish with 2-37.

Tish got off to a cracking start and were soon 43 without loss. However, a tactical bowling change by acting captain Damian Arthur brought Richard Harris and Lyn Richards into the attack.

The former opening batting partners now spearheaded Cresselly's attempt to win the match which they did, as Richards took 6-55 and Harris 3-22 with some clever bowling variations.

Tish were dismissed for 128 after being given a good start by Peter Bradshaw with 27 and an attempt by Jonathan Pawlett to boost the scoring as he hit two sixes and two fours in his brief inning of 23.

In an exciting finish at Neyland, the visitors Saundersfoot, won with one ball of the match remaining as Yannick Parker grabbed the nine runs needed to win in the last over.

This followed a Neyland innings of 185-9 after a terrific knock of 84 by Ashley Sutton backed up by skipper Andrew Miller with 34 and Paul Murray with 24.

Nick Cope with 3-49 was the pick of the Saundersfoot bowling attack and then he controlled his natural attacking instincts to score 45 in the victory bid.

He was supported by Phil Jones with 35 and Simon Wood with 27 before Parker's heroics at the end.

Gregg Miller took 3-13 and there were two wickets each for Henry Durrant and Andrew Miller.

Haverfordwest had the better of Carew in a drawn match at the Racecourse after scoring 181-9.

There were no big individual scores, but consistent batting by Adam James with 38, Nathan Banner with 29, Richard James with 27 and Simon Holliday with 21.

Leg-spinner Ceri Brace took 4-47 for the visitors who replied with a total of 156-6.

Stylish left-hander Gareth Lewis scored 48, Ian Sefton stroked his way to 27 and Rhys Davies with 24 and Robert Hicks with 22 also made useful contributions, but the visitors had to settle for a draw.

Clive Tucker winkled out three batsmen at a personal cost of 34 runs.

In a low scoring match at Whitland where the ball wobbled around more than usual, Whitland were bowled out for 104 by the visitors Lawrenny.

Paul Davies scored 24 and Daniel James 22 as Lawrenny skipper Robert Williams took 5-34, with Alistair Edwards and Phil Cole picking up two wickets each.

In reply, Lawrenny were bowled out for 94 despite the efforts of Robert Williams who scored 20 not out at number 10 as David Dunfee took 4-12, skipper Matthew Davies 3-32 and Iestyn Scourfield 3-34.

Narberth recovered from a bad start to reach 234-6. Wayne Howells held things together with a solid 44, Kyle Quartermaine had a brisk innings of 47, and Michael Scale batted superbly to score 74, including 10 fours and one six.

Dean John took 3-44 for the visitors Herbrandston who were bowled out for 95. Leigh Marchant top scored on 18 as Ian Hughes took 3-33, backed up by Jordan Howell and Ben Hughes with two wickets apiece.

Division Two

Johnston set the visitors Pembroke Dock a challenging target after reaching a total of 243-6.

Lee Summons was dismissed for 99 after striking four sixes and hitting 12 fours and back-up was provided by Stephen Price with 46, Steve Mills Junior with 33 and Ross Dewstowe with 22 not out.

Jamie White and Nick Daley each picked up two wickets for the Dock who were bowled out for 93 in reply.

Nic Johnson scored 29 and Luc Barford 26, but Steve Mills Junior completed a solid all round performance by taking 5-16 and Richard James took 3-41.

In a high scoring match at Burton, the visitors Cresselly Seconds reached 232-6 after more than useful contributions by Iwan Izzard with 54, Neale Williams with 54, including 10 fours, and Alex Bayley with an attractive innings of 48.

It was not enough to prevent a Burton win, although Cresselly Seconds are still third in the table after Burton scored 233-4 to win by six wickets.

Martin James scored 81 not out with seven fours and four sixes, Richard Jones wasted no time in scoring 68, Morgan Scale chipped in with 56 not out, Like Hayman scored 25 and the experiences Phil Sutton 22.

Whitland Seconds did well to hold out for a draw on 152-5 at Carew, where the Carew Second team scored 195-2.

Teenager James Hinchcliffe was the mainstay of the innings with 85 not out and he received support from Barry Evans with 24, Steffan Davies with 21 and Tom Scourfield with 20.

Whitland skipper Stuart Harris took 3-32 and Carl Smith 3-51.

Paul Webb (35) and Wayne Jones with an attractive 69, including two sixes and six fours, put on 100 for the second wicket to steer Whitland to safety as Christian Phillips took 3-33 for the Carew team.

Division Three

Leaders Pembroke had a convincing win at home to Lamphey who were bowled out for 74 chasing a Pembroke total of 194 all out.

Pembroke increased the tempo as the innings went on with Andrew Price scoring 42 including three sixes and three fours. Colin Kaijaks 30, Phil Hay 26 and Dan Williams 24.

Grant Cole had an excellent spell of 4-27 and left arm spinner Andrew Skeels took 3-38.

Although Lewis Haines attacked the bowling in a quick fire 26, Rob Weston took 3-5 with Anton John, Will Randal and skipper Sean Powell each having a brace of wickets so that none of the other Lamphey batsmen could get going.

Crymych returned to winnings ways with a seven wickets success at home to Johnston Seconds who were held to 160-7 as Simon Williams finished on 54 not out, with six fours and two sixes.

Charlie Howell took 2-17 for Crymych who got to 161-3 following an opening stand of 91 between Rob Nicholas with 69 and Rhydian Wyn with 28.

Liam James took 2-37 for the visitors in a match sponsored by The Angel, Llandissilio.

In a close finish at the Castell Malgwyn ground, Llechryd won by three wickets at home to Kilgetty who were restricted to 120-7.

John Curran (3-20) and Steve Smith (2-20) bowled well in the conditions as Richard Gwyther top scored for the Kilgetty team with 30.

Curran followed up his on the spot bowling to lead the visitors bid with 35 and an undefeated eighth wicket stand of 34 between Tom Beard with 22 not out and Andrew Davies with 21 not out took Llechryd to a winning total of 121-7.

Neil Powling and Andrew Evans each picked up two wickets for the Kilgetty side.

Llanrhian scored 234-5 away to Carew Thirds after Gareth Davies scored 89 and Geraint Morris 50.

Llanrhian maintained their promotion bid by dismissing the home team for 107 as Christopher Arundell took 4-33 and Gareth Davies 3-10 with the main resistance coming from Shaun Whitfield with 27.

Narberth Seconds were away at Fishguard, who scored 209-7 after consistent batting by Lee Davies with 48, Anthony Couzens with 47, Rhys Dalling with 40 and Darren Jones with 21.

Ceri Davies and Iwan Bowen-Rees each picked up a brace of wickets for the visitors who were bowled out for 155 in reply, with Ceri Davies scoring 37, Andrew Williams 34 and Brynley Toms 31.

Scott Delaney took 4-28 for Fishguard.

Division Four

Hundleton have slipped down to third place after a five wickets defeat at home to Hook Seconds.

Although Jon Tysoe and Morgan Allen both scored 31, Chris Holder with 4-18 and Gareth Herberg with 4-21 made inroads into the Hundleton batting line-up and Hundleton were bowled out for 129.

David Petrie led the victory bid with an undefeated innings of 54 as Paul Fox and Ben Adams each picked up two wickets for Hundleton.

Lawrenny Seconds made the visitors Neyland Seconds fight for their three wickets win, after the Lawrenny team were held to 111-9.

Richard Prout enjoyed his break from golf and hit six fours in his innings of 38 and was supported by Lance Osbourne with 20.

Rodney Murphy took 3-25 and Jeremy Charles 3-28 for Neyland Seconds who got to 114-7 in reply following a solid innings of 50 from Lee Day. Jamie Lewis, Chris Beff ad Richard Prout each took two of the wickets to fall.

The mid-table clash between Cresselly Thirds and Haverfordwest Thirds ended in a draw after the visitors had reached 215-9.

Nigel Jenkins with 68, opener Mark White with 50 and Kern Cunningham with 44 scored the runs as Steve Davies took 4-40 for the home team.

A quality innings of 95 not out by Steve Wilkins, including 14 fours and one six, enabled the Cresselly team to secure a draw on 151-6 as Josh Hicks and Matthew Thomas each picked up two wickets.

Division Five

St. Clears remain top of Division Five despite suffering their second successive defeat this time by the narrow margin of three runs away to Saundersfoot Seconds.

Accurate bowling by Rob Morgan with 3-32 and skipper Andrew Edwards with 2-19 restricted Saundersfoot to 122-5. Geoff Marsh was 31 not out and Chris Hawkes also scored 31.

In reply, St. Clears were dismissed for 119 as Sam Franklin took 3-20 and the experienced Chris Parker 3-18

Shaun Lynch top scored for the visitors with 29.

Whitland Thirds won their fourth game of the season on Saturday, but remain rooted at the bottom of the Division Five table.

The visitors Pembroke Seconds were held to 114-7 as Jack Harries scored 26, Spencer Harries 24 and Nigel Phillips 24.

Skipper Hefin Thomas took 2-11 for the Whitland team who won by three wickets with a total of 117-7.

Teenager Jack Bowen was 56 not out and dominated the Whitland reply with three other players getting into double figures.

David Jones took 2-25 for Pembroke Seconds.

Narberth Thirds had a day to forget away to St. Ishmaels Seconds who built up a mammoth total of 285-3.

Archie Smithies had the game of his life with an innings of 150 not out supported by Gareth Cheshire with 59.

In view of the gigantic total, Lee Scott did well to take 2-28.

In reply, Narberth Thirds were skittled out for 30 as David Salter took 2-2, Daniel Flynn 3-0 and Ryan Rees 3-13.

Herbrandston Seconds were dismissed for 130 by St. Florence. Daniel McClelland was the only Herbie batsman to score than 20 with 22 as the father and son combination of Barry Phillips and James Phillips did the bulk of the damage, with Berry taking 3-19 and James 3-23.

Ashley Smith and Eli Culyer backed up with two wickets apiece.

Unfortunately, the Saints were bowled out for 80 in reply as the experience pair of Alan McClelland with 4-21and Paul Nicholas with 3-19 picked up most of the wickets despite the fighting innings of 26 by Steve Davies.

Division Six

Leaders Pembroke Dock Seconds managed to salvage a draw after the visitors Stackpole Seconds had scored 200-9.

The hard-hitting Roger Lewis scored 75 and James Adie 24.

Jason Coles took 4-13 for the Dock team and Billy Wood 2-39.

All-rounder John Davies with 39 not out and Luke Murray with 30 kept the leaders in the game as both Greg Thompson and Gareth Brown each took two wickets as the Dock finished up on 93-5.

Llechryd Seconds were unable to play their game away to promotion hungry Camrose and Spittal Seconds because of a memorial football match at Cardigan.

Crymych Seconds scored 186-6 away to Lamphey Seconds after Ian Davies scored 58, supported by Andrew Thomas with 47.

Guiseppe Trimarco and Maldwyn Llewellyn each picked up two wickets for the Lamphey team who held out for a draw at 106-6, with Shaun Donohoe scoring 21 of the runs.

The Thomas brothers did most of the damage with the ball, as Andrew Thomas took 3-8 and Marc Thomas 2-8.
