THE Pembrokeshire Records Office is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a number of special events.
One of them is a series of free Saturday workshops aimed at showing people how to use the office - based in Haverfordwest Castle - and its extensive collection of records.
The free seminars will take place on the first Saturday afternoon of the month from 2-4 pm and a different topic will be covered each month. No pre-booking is required.
County archivist, Claire Orr, said one of the aims of the sessions was to encourage people to make use of the material in the County Record Office.
"We hope to show people how to read old documents and how to place them in context," she added.
The first workshop is on Saturday, April 5, and will be an introduction to using the Record Office.
Subsequent seminars have been arranged for: June 7 - Church and chapel records; July 5 - Reading old handwriting; August 2 - Maps; September 6 - Census records; October 4 - Quarter Sessions records.
