Plans to enhance play park provision in Tenby are now to be discussed by Pembrokeshire County Council.
Proposals to look into the possibility of refurbishing the play area in Heywood Court were recently mooted by Clr. Mike Evans, who suggested that the town council should be looking into Capital Expense Play Programmes, and funding projects like this for areas of the town where there was need and support for.
Despite the suggestion splitting views of town councillors, with some feeling the cost for such a scheme would be too high, a site meeting between Clr. Evans and fellow Tenby county councillor Michael Williams was planned.
“Clr. Evans and Clr. Williams recently met with myself and Clr. Laurence Blackhall, and things have now moved on,” the town clerk, Andrew Davies, told members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday.
Mr. Davies said that Clr. Evans hadn’t realised the extent of the on-cost in maintaining such a play park enhancement, while Clr. Williams had discussed the matter with Lyn Hambridge, head of housing at Pembrokeshire County Council, on looking at play park provision for housing estates in the area.
“Mrs. Hambridge is going to have a discussion with Richard Brown, the authority’s head of environment and civil contingencies on the matter, but there is the option there if the town council wanted to make a contribution towards any enhancement,” continued Mr. Davies.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown asked if it could now be cleared up that the town council were not involved in taking on the project at Heywood Court.
“I’m sure the county council will come back to us and let us know what’s happening,” said Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall.
