Paul Sartori Hospice at Home celebrated its 35th anniversary in style with a full length and fabulous ball at The Pavilion, Withybush, Haverfordwest.

Toni Dorkings, community fundraiser, commented: “This ball was a fantastic event and I would like to thank everyone who donated prizes, offered sponsorship, bought tickets and bid on our amazing auction prizes - you all made it possible for us to raise just over £6,500.”

Toni went on to to say: “It is with grateful thanks to Bearfourteen, Celtic Wine, Morgan and Morgan, Pembroke Power Station, Templeton Direct and Valero that we were able to keep all our costs to a minimum and maximise our profits. We enjoyed food from Alfresco Catering, live music from Symphony Sid and The Swing Kings, along with an auction, 35th anniversary raffle draw and disco by Rob Thomas Disco.”

This event brings to an end the 35th year which commenced with a special service held to celebrate the life of Father Paul Sartori (the namesake of the charity), a local priest who dedicated his life to helping others and saw the need for a hospice service in Pembrokeshire. Father Paul Sartori sadly died in 1980 at the age of 39 and so a group of his close friends came together over 35 years ago; tirelessly raised funds and in 1982 they succeeded in registering the foundation as a charity.

The charity is just as passionate now about the services it delivers, as it was 35 years ago and continues to be available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The support provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service enables people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear. The range of services it now provides includes home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
