Tenby’s top festive highlight is splashing out to celebrate Wales with a Cool Cymru fancy dress code.

The town’s Boxing Day Swim, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year, is calling on participants to bring along the sporting shirts, leeks, daffodils, dragons, and maybe even a sheep or two to embrace the patriotic theme as they take the plunge.

Prizes are on offer for the best costumes.

The crazy event - named as one of Britain’s top 10 barmiest festive dips - attracts hundreds of bathers and huge crowds of spectators, and takes place off the North Beach at 11.30 am on Saturday, December 26.

Every year, the swim raises thousands of pounds for national and local charities thanks to the sponsorship collected by its entrants.

Swimmers can collect for their own good causes, or those nominated by event organiser, Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA).

Any organisation which would like to be considered for a donation should contact TSSA secretary, Nicole Evans, on [email protected] or 8 Upper Hill Park, Tenby, SA70 8JE by Friday, October 30.
