A Tenby sandwich shop received a pat on the back from Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday for donating funds raised from their carrier bag charge towards the town’s ‘Christmas Festivities’ fund.

Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane praised Debbie and Alison at Country Kitchen in Upper Frog Street, after they presented her with a cheque for £65 which was raised through their 5p carrier bag charge this year.

“This is a very generous gesture and shows great community spirit,” said Clr. Mrs. Lane.

“Perhaps other businesses in town would like to consider doing similar as it would help us provide even more to make the town a vibrant and attractive place to visit at Christmas,” she added.

Members agreed to write to the Chamber of Trade and Tourism to ask if they would consider asking their membership to make a similar gesture.
