Tenby and District Gateway Club celebrated its 21st birthday with a party at the town's rugby club last Thursday evening.

There was a full turnout of members and people who had been connected with the club in the past, including Malcolm Bellamy, Robert Osborne, Roland Grigg, Robert Main, Gaynor Hilling and Peter Wilton from the Lions.

Lyn Watkins, Majella Thomas, Judith Leyland, Hetty Hilling and Mansel Thomas would like to thank the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who was accompanied by Sam Reohorn, for their support and wonderful dancing!

Everybody had a great time and enjoyed the buffet at the club and are now looking forward to the next 21 years of fun.

The group is a thriving club for adults from 18-70 with learning disabilities. It runs in term-time from 7-9 pm on Thursdays at the Avenue Centre (behind Tenby Library).

The aim is to offer a varied programme of social activities which includes indoor sports, bingo, music, discos, quizzes, as well as outings to local pubs and cafes. It runs under the umbrella of Mencap.

The club is run by volunteers and would welcome new recruits to help in any capacity to run games, make tea, collect money etc., and generally socialise - any idea would be welcome.

So if you have an evening free and would like to volunteer, or if any local firms would like to help sponsor events like a summer ball or the Christmas party, please contact Judith on 845781 or Val on 843951.
