Sir,

My father, Mr. Charles Birt, lives in St. Julian Street, is disabled and is 88-years-old. Twice a week he attends the Day Centre at Tenby Cottage Hospital and in between he has visits to doctors, hospitals etc.

We have constant problems with cars parking on the double yellow lines directly opposite the entrance to his property, which has prevented the ambulance and mini-bus that collect him for his appointments from being able to pick him up. This has been reported to the police many times by the drivers and myself, but they have advised that they are unable to do anything as the double yellow lines are not 'valid' as there are no ends to the lines.

I have received a phone call from the Day Centre to advise that they are no longer able to collect my father for his two ssessions at the Cottage Hospital as it is taking too long to collect him and there are other patients to be picked up.

This is all as a result of cars inconsiderately parking on double yellow lines outside the entrance to my father's property. Unfortunately, the persistent, worst culprits are those with businesses in the immediate vicinity, but while there is a situation where the Police refuse to take any action because the lines are not valid and state it is a matter for the county council, then I cannot see what progress can be made. At some point, there will be a situation where an emergency vehicle will not be able to pass because of the parked vehicles.

Giles A. Birt BSc, MRICS,

Birt and Co.,

Tenby.
