A total of 91 fixed penalty notices for parking offences in and around Tenby have been issued by police officers and the traffic warden over the last two months. The latest anti-social parking crackdown campaign was a response to complaints by local residents and was given publicity in the local media. The fixed penalty notices have raised the sum of £2,730, none of which is kept by the police as it all goes to central government. Inspector Les Clark, of Tenby police station, said: "I still receive complaints about parking on dropped kerbs. This deprives wheelchair users of easy access to pavements and should not be tolerated. Each time we witness this type of offence, a ticket will be issued." Insp. Clark was also concerned about complaints he had received from residents of Clareston Court, who say that sometimes anti-social parking actually blocks them in. "Again, if this is witnessed by officers, a ticket will be issued and consideration will be given to removing the vehicle on safety grounds. The charges for this will be payable by the owner of the vehicle," said the officer. "This higher level of parking enforcement will continue through the season," he warned.
