Sir, Narberth Chamber of Trade would like to thank Inspector Les Clark for his apology for being unable to attend the recent meeting to discuss Narberth's traffic problems and understands the overriding need of operational requirements. With the announcement that parking and traffic management is to be decriminalised and enforcement to be passed to civil jurisdiction next year, it will be good to see that the local police will be relieved of the onerous and time-wasting duties of anti-social parking 'policing'. It's also good to understand that old-fashioned 'policing' will now be where it belongs - within the remit of the constabulary, allowing them to deal fully with violence and anti- social behaviour. The local police are to be congratulated on their recent successes against the wave of drugs within the county, which continues to be an ever-present danger to our youth. The message must now go out to the citizens and neighbours of Narberth to 'park with consideration' to each other, before being forced to do so; like London and its draconian council enforcement schemes.

Gordon Barry, Secretary, Narberth Chamber of Trade.
