Take your pick of how to view Pembrokeshire as part of the latest items on offer in the summer Activities and Events programme arranged by the National Park Authority.

You can see the county from various angles - and even different saddles - as well as from a canoe in the Daugleddau or a boat meandering along a spectacular stretch of coastline.

The highly praised programme - now in its 35th year - has again come up with a mix of popular items and innovative ideas. One combines a coastal walk from Porthgain with stirring tales of seafarers and ends with a sing-a-long to sea shanties in the company of folk singers at the Sloop Inn.

Also new this year is a coastal walk and cruise which combines bird's eye and fish's eye views of the coast between Porthclais, near St. David's, and Solva. The five-mile walk to Solva, on Monday, August 13, is followed by a leisurely boat trip back to Porthclais. Pre-booking is essential on (01437) 720392.

Other waterborne events are canoe trips in the Daugleddau tomorrow (Saturday) and Monday, August 6, and there are island walks to Skomer and Ramsey too.

Families are well catered for with another arts and crafts and puppet workshop, this time at St. David's Visitor Centre on August 14, a beach fun day at Coppet Hall, Saundersfoot (August 7) and various family walks.

Scary ghost stories - of white ladies, special shipwrecks and a walled-up monk - and tales in the company of a pilgrim from Chaucer's time will also be heard at St. David's.

There are also opportunities to saddle up and see some of the beautiful Preseli moorland scenery from horseback, or explore the byways on a family bike ride led by a National Park ranger.
