More and more Pembrokeshire residents are making the most of the National Park that's on their doorstep, a survey has revealed. People who took part in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's organised activities and events throughout the summer filled in a questionnaire about their experiences, for the chance to win Park merchandise. The survey showed more Pembrokeshire residents and those from elsewhere in Wales took part in events compared with last year. A total of 99.2 per cent rated the activities they chose as good, very good or excellent and the top three reasons people gave for choosing the event were: to learn more (37.4 per cent); to see more wildlife (23 per cent) and to enjoy a family activity (11.7 per cent). Asked what makes the National Park special, the most common answers were: coast, scenery, wildlife, diversity and the fact the area is so unspoilt. Other answers included: the people, cleanliness and accessibility. Authority member Clr. Sue Perkins picked out the draw winner on Tuesday at the authority's headquarters in Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock. The winner will receive their choice of National Park merchandise. Clr. Perkins said: "It's excellent that more local people are getting out and about in the National Park. This is our National Park and we should be proud of it. We as an authority are keen to see everyone using it, as it's one of the jewels in Pembrokeshire's crown." The activities and events programme is tailored each year to encourage new people to enjoy the Park and one of the most popular new events this year was bushcraft. The authority is always keen to hear people's suggestions for new activities. Get in touch with Rebecca Banks on 0845 345 7275 if you have any ideas.
