Pembrokeshire Bio Energy Ltd. - recently launched to produce, market and supply biofuels in Pembrokeshire - has received a welcome boost in the form of a grant from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's Sustainable Development Fund. The grant has been awarded for the establishment of 10 hectares of energy crop Miscanthus - a crop with excellent growing potential in Pembrokeshire. Compared to fossil fuels, energy crops have environmental benefits of being carbon dioxide neutral and provide protected habitats for wildlife. They also provide a way of supporting farmers and keep money in the local economy. The grant will go some way to promoting interest from the farming sector in establishing several pockets of miscanthus.
